applebomb : A friend of mine (as well as I, personally) ask that you consider signing the following petition:
link
If you don't know who Uwe Boll is, he is the man responsible for Video Game movie flops such as House of the Dead, Alone in the Dark, Blood Rayne, and so forth. It is not enough to say that he lacks writing and directing talent, but he is also overconfident to the point where he calls fellow (more talented and successful) directors Spielberg and Bay "f-ing retards".
He has also tried to get rights to make a WoW movie and got this reply from Blizzard "'We will not sell the movie rights, not to you, especially not to you."
Further information here:

He promises not to make movies if the petition gets 1,000,000 signatures.
For the sake of preserving the reputations of the games both you and I love, please sign the petition and get that man out of Hollywood.
Thank you!

applebomb : And that is how America does cinema!
Violence, irrelevance, unnecessary deaths and no discernable plot WHATSOEVER!
I like action movies as much as the next person but I don't appreciate movie makers questioning my intellegence by assuming that I won't take notice in them butchering things I like so they can make a buck or two exploiting the game's good name while barely making a movie about the game itself.
Then again, the only game I really care about anymore is Earthbound and the Mother series and no one is going to make any movies out of them any time soo-ever. As it is, he's already been denied rights to WoW and MGS so sure he can go make movies and I can refuse to watch them but I have sympathy for fans of the games that he will make movies of.
Arladerus : , I want to see Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I should probably see Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade first. Especially the Last Crusade.

applebomb : It is possible to ignore it but if you're a really big fan of something it's really hard to ignore it.
Like I love the color teal. I will buy anything the color teal.
If someone calls something teal and it's turquois, I will be very upset.
Very, very upset.
applebomb : Lol Lee, watching his movies made me want salt in my eyes, too.
Like tears or something
repty : Even after reading everything you guys have said , I still do not understand how the movie a guy makes can affect the fans . Sure it makes the game seem sucky , but then again , only fans of the game would watch the movie despite the ratings and the horribleness of the director . I don't get how the sucky movie will destroy the game . Care to explain more ? :X
Fenrir : I'm a fan of House Of the Dead and hell no, I'm never going to watch his movies again.
Too actiony, paper-thin plot.
HoTD 4 is bloody hard to beat, BTW. ):

It's not that it ruins the game, it's that the movie is pretty much saying "screw the fans, let's make some money". They know they can make big money making a movie for a game with a big fan base. Game fans are a pretty devoted population, so if they go out of their way to see a movie, spend like $12, they expect to see their game portrayed on the big screen, not a hunk of generic action movie that has loosely anything to do with their game.
It doesn't ruin the game, it's just an insult to movie-viewers and gamers alike. It's not enough to just use the names of characters and places and assume it's a brilliant film adaption.

SilverFx : House of the Dead.
And liek, I saw this guy at Marina who took both guns in number four and played alll the way and finished the whole damn game. I watched in awe.
. . .It's the only game I'll play on the rare occasions that I go to the arcade. Other than that whacky game where you slam on those three buttons and get your hands all red. >.> Bwhaha.
